There are a number of political battles in which people throw around this idea that human beings are made in the image of God but do so in an unexamined way. Let's explore this idea some.
As a retired person devoting himself to writing and occasional painting, I used to be somewhat of a "politico." I read and responded to the political swings of the day. But one day God asked me, "What do you want on your gravestone? That you were a blah blah blah ( fill in your own particulars), or something else?" I responded quietly, "Well... I want it simply to say, "Lover of God." God then said, "So, live and act that way." I stopped engaging in the political sphere on the spot. Now, I must add though that some are assigned to the "political terrain," for it is their calling. But not me.
A very thoughtful piece. I agree wholeheartedly.
