There are a lot of patterns of thought which seem to us universal and just the way things are. One of these is "cause and effect." But there is another way to see the world, older, more powerful.
Understanding this from the Orthodox perspective* instead of the mechanistic, and even the legalistic, it is viewed in terms of relationships. In this way, we can see the mirror icon of marriage (and family) to the Church's relationship with Christ. We act for the good of the other out of love, and we hurt when we see them fall short, or fall into dangerous patterns, or take the first step down a destructive path. This is not cold mechanics, nor is it a self-help mindset, but one centered around Love and right relationship with others. So, too, is God's love for us and His calling to us to be right in our relationship with Him and resonate/be filled with His energies.
This was exactly what happened to me. I switched paths and now my actions align with that path. Everything you wrote, resonated with me because that's exactly what happened. Great read brother
