As a wise man once said:

"The conservatives are fools: They whine about the decay of traditional values, yet they enthusiastically support technological progress and economic growth. Apparently it never occurs to them that you can't make rapid, drastic changes in the technology and the economy of a society without causing rapid changes in all other aspects of the society as well, and that such rapid changes inevitably break down traditional values."

Your article expanded on this topic excellently. As a fan of the Amish, I think they show us what a Christ centered parallel society looks like. Not that they don't have problems too, but they have community, elders and everything we Conservatives so direly miss.

Well done.

Great piece. Still trying to find community for myself and family. Rest of family scattered around country. Church members don’t necessarily share same politics and fellow dissidents don’t share same religious community + the geographic distance. And now my town (a suburb of a major southern US city) is being inundated with immigrants. Can’t help but feel I will have to retreat to an intentional community at some point. Not sure if others are in similar situations.

This is where things are headed, it seems.

Excellent piece!

This article is a point we need to hear repeatedly. “Conservatives” who swim in the exact same philosophical waters as the liberals will lose every single time.

As Robert Louis Dabney said in 1897 about conservatives:

“It may be inferred again that the present movement for women’s rights will certainly prevail from the history of its only opponent: Northern conservatism. This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation.”

This is a great piece, thanks. As a parent, it's hard to come to terms with the very likely possibility that things will get worse as my children age. Creating a smaller community where they can thrive seems to be the project of our times, but I'd rather be prepping them for larger endeavors. Still, one of God's blessings is that the future is unknown, so hope springs eternal!
