1. The Christian Ghetto: "The Threat of Materialism"

Recently, several members of a Twitter discussion group organized around the idea of being distinctly Christian members of the "dissident right" hosted a Twitter Space to discuss "materialism."

A while back, a widely circulated Twitter thread by Zero HP Lovecraft @0x49fa98 talking about Twitter’s back rooms spurred a discussion among a few of us, all whom maintain an open Christian stance on Twitter, even if their posting is not specifically theological, their worldview is distinctly Christian. It was agreed that we would go through our lists of mutuals and begin sending out invitations. The group has grown since then. We are all of the mind that the Christian faith is the only western belief system which can offer a coherent, fully orbed alternative to the ideology of the regime. It was given the name “The Christian Ghetto” after an observation made by Oswald Spengler which I talk about here in this piece:

Discipleship, Politics and the Problem of a Christian Society
I am not, nor will I ever be a “Christian Nationalist.” This has nothing to do with the “cringe factor” which seems to accompany the movement, nor its general socio-economic makeup. My reasons are theological. Many Christians, even those who consider themselves orthodox and embrace a traditional Christian moral frame, have not been taught to think about the world theologically. It is about being a good, upright person. You go to church, say grace before meals, read your Bible and pray. But ot…

The idea was to create a space where we could talk about events, hash out ideas and disagreements and support each other in disseminating quality content from Christian writers and thinkers helping understand the current moment and lay out a path forward. It was recently suggested within the group that we should do a podcast in order to let people listen in on some of our discussions. We bounced around ideas and decided to begin with a Twitter Space. This is the recorded version of that discussion. Hopefully we will introduce more members of the group in the future and enlighten you with more engaging discussions.

The main participants were myself and:

Sanfedisti of the Position and Decision Substack:

Santiago Pliego of New Founding

Stephen W. Carson of the YouTube channel: Radical Liberation

Enjoy!

The place where I pursue the deeper wisdom, especially those things hidden to us by our overly rational world. Here I seek wisdom over knowledge. For now, these are mostly the audio versions of my written works which can be found at www.seekingthehiddenthing.com
