Luke Avery was kind enough to have me on for live stream over at Lambda Bible Studies where he lets me ramble on at length about postmodern hermeneutics for an hour and forty five minutes. Enjoy!
I like the emphasis on apprenticeship as a way of avoiding over reliance on technique. My church has a ministry that is low in technique and high in apprenticeship. There is a frequent desire to add processes to the ministry in a way that would make it sterile. Understanding technique and it's effects has been helpful as we try to strike a balance.
This is excellent. There really is no getting away from it, but by being mindful of the influence of technique we can make choices that enhance human agency and allow human ability and accomplishment to shine...to the glory of God, of course.
I have a book on my shelf with translations that I can use as reference if the need arises, but I really have not. I also have a new synoptic Gospels project book that includes all the gnostic gospels along side the Synoptics, but other than that, not really.
Take your time writing. Yours is one of the rare few paid worth every minute we wait for.
Thanks for that encouragement, Chad! It’s appreciated.

Read Mike Heiser on postmodernism.
It was a great conversation. Post-Modern is a stepping stone away from an individualistic understanding of reality to a relational one.
Thanks. Yes, and what the acid of postmodernism does, at least in theory, is bring some humility back into the pursuit of truth.
