Would you consider listening to this video by excellent cancelled historian David Starkey, who argues that Christianity is not necessary to save the West and actually has often caused harm - and that instead it is the particular ancient customs of the English with the overlay of Classical Enlightenment values that must be restored in order to save the West?
This thing that you understand as the "classical enlightenment" could only have happened within a society that was predominantly Christian. Even when reacting against Christianity, or trying to free itself from the restraints of Christianity, it is still the Christian faith against which it was pushing. There is no enlightenment without it.
